PondBrite for Ponds

Product Description

Made in Canada

🛠️ PondBrite

PondBrite is a highly effective bactericide and algaecide designed for domestic use to combat cyanobacteria (blue‑green algae), algae, and bacteria in small water bodies such as culture ponds, lagoons, dugouts, reservoirs, fountains, ornamental ponds, water gardens, and decorative water features. PondBrite can be safely applied to fish‑bearing water bodies when used at the appropriate rate and with proper precautions.

PondBrite Bottle

⭐ Features & Application Guidelines

  • Made in Canada
  • Apply in late spring or early summer when algae first appear
  • Use every two weeks
  • 1 L treats a 1,000‑gallon pond (zero copper) for part of the season depending upon amount of algae, sun and number of fish
  • Effective in both warm and cold temperatures
  • Apply the first dose gradually over 2–3 days to allow fish to acclimate
  • Monitor copper levels to stay within the safe range (0.4 ppm)
  • Compatible with the Ocion Water Sciences app (Android/Google only; Apple support coming soon)

🧭 How to Use PondBrite

1. Test your copper level
Use a copper test kit and note your reading in ppm.

2. Find your dose
Match your copper reading and pond size in the table in the Dosage tab.

3. Add PondBrite
Pour the measured amount evenly around the pond edge or into an area with good circulation.

4. Repeat every two weeks

⚙️ How it Works

Before using PondBrite in water with fish, check alkalinity (above 50 ppm), pH (6.5+), and organic content. Low alkalinity or pH increases copper toxicity. Apply PondBrite near algae growth, typically on the water surface or in shallow areas.

Application Rate

The application rate varies with the amount of copper present in pond water. Dose every two weeks based on copper test results and pond volume. All amounts shown as mL (fl oz).

Custom Dosage Rates

If your pond volume does not match the table above, use this formula:

Dose (mL) = Dose_per_1000gal × (Pond_Volume_gallons ÷ 1000)
Dose (fl oz) = Dose (mL) ÷ 29.6

Example:
114 mL × (3,750 gal ÷ 1,000) = 427.5 mL
427.5 mL ÷ 29.6 = 14.4 fl oz

PondBrite is compatible with the Ocion Water Sciences app, available for Android and Google devices only. Apple/iOS support is planned for a future release.

The app provides helpful tools for monitoring copper levels, tracking treatment schedules, and managing water quality more effectively.

PondBrite is designed to control algae and bacteria effectively while protecting aquatic life and water quality. Treating algae can temporarily lower oxygen levels as dead algae decompose, which may stress fish.

To reduce risk:

  • Treat ¼–⅓ of the water body at a time, starting along the shore
  • Wait at least 2 days between treatments
  • Use aeration if available
  • Allow 14 days between full treatments
  • Apply early in the bloom season at the lowest effective copper rate
  • Do not exceed 1.0 ppm ionic copper
  • Copper binds to organic matter, reducing toxicity over time

By following these practices, PondBrite provides safe, responsible algae control for ponds, fountains, and other small aquatic systems.
