Prescription Fish Medicines

Due to regulations imposed by Health Canada in 2019, it is illegal to purchase over-the-counter (OTC) fish medicines and drugs. These medications are only available via a prescription from a veterinary clinic specialising in fish.

Available Fish Treatments

There is a lot of conflicting information and research surrounding the validity of all-natural, herbal fish remedies. Research has shown that herbal remedies have an important role in enhancing the immune function of fish, and in effectively promoting antiviral, antibacterial, and antiparasitic activities of the immune system.

Herbal remedies are not a cure-all, or a substitute for prescription fish drugs. However, many of these herbal remedies might work if the illness or disease is caught early enough, and may buy you some extra treatment time.
