During the spring, summer, and fall, every biological process that occurs in a pond is dependent upon oxygen. This is especially important in warmer temperatures and at night when plants are not converting sunlight into oxygen.

During the winter, it is important to keep a small hole in the pond ice to allow for oxygen to enter and for carbon dioxide to exit.

Important Information

These air pumps are NOT weather-proof. You must keep the unit protected at all times. The simplest method is to use a large and heavy flower pot with drainage holes. Other methods include placing the unit in a garage, gazebo, or under a deck, or making a breathable weatherproof cover from wood or rock.

Additionally, the Pond Air 2 is only 0.28cfm. In climate zones 5B and colder, it is recommended that you install an Aquascape Pond De-icer in conjunction with this aeration kit.
