Duckweed
Duckweed tends to grow in dense colonies in quiet water. It can be aggressive and is often found mixed in with other aquatic plants. Do not allow Duckweed to completely cover the surface of the pond because this will greatly decrease the oxygen.
Duckweed helps control algae growth by reducing sunlight penetration. It also absorbs the nutrients that would otherwise be utilized by algae. The tiny root systems make an excellent cover for fry. Fish love to eat Duckweed.
